Free Pattern: A New Ripple Stitch

crochet fan ripple blanket

Vintage Fan Ripple Stitch Pattern
by Janis Cortese,

All stitches are made in the BACK LOOP ONLY.
Trtr= yo 4 times, work loops off two at a time as usual.
1. Ch some number of stitches that’s a multiple of 9.
Chain one extra, then starting in the second chain from hook:
2. (Do a sc in each of the next 4 st, 3sc in the next,
then another sc in each of the next 4 st.)
Keep repeating this until the end of the chain.
Chain 1, turn.
I’m NOT counting the turning chain as a sc throughout this because it annoys me.
3. (Skip one sc. One sc in each of the next 4 st, 3 sc in the next, one
sc in each of the next 4 st. Skip one sc.)
Again, keep repeating this to the end of the row.
Chain 1, turn.
4. Same as row 3. Chain 1, turn.
5. Slip-‐stitch into the next 3 sc, back-‐loop only Chain up 6
(this counts as the first trtr in the first fan).
Do a trtr in each of the next 2 stitches, 3 trtr in the next, and a trtr in each
of the next 3 stitches. Skip 2 sc.
Now, (Skip 2 sc. Do a trtr in each of the next 3 sc, 3 trtr in the next, and a trtr in
each of the next 3 sc. Skip 2 sc.)
Keep repeating this to the end of the row.
Chain 1, turn.
To continue the pattern, keep repeating rows 2, 3, 4, and 5.
You can keep from getting lost by remembering that you will always be going in the same direction on the row where you’re making the fans.
Feel free to make and sell items made from this pattern.
I worked it up from a vintage pattern, so I don’t feel any particular ownership over it.
Have fun!

This pattern came for Ravelry
