Free Crochet Pattern - No Place Like Home

I try to place projects on the blog that I have either tried
or
 would love to try
 but
there is not enough time in the world to make everything I want.
So...
This blanket I would love to make but right now
I am making a chunky blanket.
I will take a picture of it when it is done in the meanwhile...

10 Thanksgiving Centerpieces that You Can't Kill

In my younger days, I worked for the best floral shop in San Leandro, CA.

My Boss, was a very petite French Canadian woman called Marge.
She once commented in the late 80's that no one celebrated
Thanksgiving like they used to, the orders for Thanksgiving
arrangements were down and spirituality it made her sad.
Thanksgiving is a time to stop and say thank you to God and your family.

Just say Thank You.

Let's Bring Thanksgiving back!

Winter Blanket by LillaBjorn Crochet

My Grandfather, Christopher Turner, owned Barron Woolen Mills and he made the best sweaters, coats, and blankets.
He made one for each of us and when I had to throw it away (due to overuse)
I felt that I was loosing a part of my Grandfather.

I want to make something that the my kids and grandchildren would pull
out of the closet and think of me!

I think that I found one!

I am going to give you the link because there are several links to follow for the full pattern, Winter Blanket

How to Upscale a Fabulous Fall Wreath

Time to get out your old wreaths. What do you find? You wonderful wreath has missing flowers, fruits and ribbons.

That is exactly what happens to me every time, because the glue loosens over time. Plus the wreath could use a little sprucing up.

Well, let's take a look at what I have done.

Crochet for Fall Fashion

The wind is blustery with gray and white clouds streaming by my front porch. A lone leaf is tumbling down the sidewalk. It is a wonderful fall day. Football is on and all my children will be over for hamburgers and a great Browns game. I hope!

Crochet and knitting isn't your Mothers or Grandmother craft anymore. Designers are incorporating them into their designs. Let's take a look.

Chunky Ripple Blanket

Winter is coming and I looked up the forecast for the US and according to the Farmers Almanac it is going to be winter from December 20 to May 20. And for most of the US it will be cold, so, let's get crocheting. The first afghan is a ripple afghan. This isn't a new pattern and your mother or grandmother probably have a few afghans like these hanging on the backs of their sofas. I love them because they look very difficult and they aren't. You can use this pattern from a baby blanket to a Christmas blanket. The count is the same.

Here is a pattern from Zoey from Zoey Makes.

Her pattern looks as though it will keep you very warm on those cold winter days:

Patriotic Pillow- free patterm

This is by far the easiest pattern for this very special pillow cover.

Tip - Measure your pillow that you want to cover (I am recovering an existing pillow that is bigger than what is suggested) and adjust your pattern.

You should have 9 v-stitches on each side and 4 corners for a total of 40 V-stitches. Finish off white.

Rnd 12: Join Blue with a slip st in any dc, ch 3, *dc in each ch space and each dc across, in corner sp 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc; rep from * around. Now before you cut off the yarn of this last round, I suggest you measure now for your 12"s. If  your over, then you can rip last row out and use either a sc or hdc around so it comes out to 12". If it isn't at 12," you can add a row of sc or add a row of hdc around to make it 12". Finish off and weave in ends.
Note:   I have one BIG tip for working on round 7. Please read this round one stitch at a time, do not try to repeat as they do not repeat, this is the round that makes the square shape take place and needs to be made as written one stitch at a time. Your square may look really ruffly by the time you get to round 9, but when you have added 10, 11, and 12 it will have shaped up. Just smooth it out with your hand and it does go flat and square.

Learn Crochet Drop Stitich

Well can you imagine a scarf in this stitch.
I understand that this sweater is very easy to make, the machinists of the sweater that is. The stitch is another matter. I suggest that you practice this stitch a lot before you tackle the sweater. Just follow this link to Annie's Attic.

Kim is a great teacher and has several videos out.
